Along with creating a few pieces of realism, I've enjoyed working with abstracts since the spring of 2020. One of my more recent experiments involved applying oil pastels to watercolour and cardstock papers. The challenging part was to work within a seven inch square, which was very liberating and demanding at the same time. My new-found abstract sensibilities then moved on to acrylic paints. It's mesmerizing to see what a palette knife can do when you scrape and drag paint across canvas, paper or a wood panel.
More recently, I've tackled the technique of collaging while spending afternoons at a local drop-in art centre. So much fun flipping through magazines from the 1960's.
